The Bulletin Dozen is a monthly theme-based list of titles available only on-line. Since we're awfully fond of bakers here at the Bulletin, we thought we'd adopt their philosophy of generosity and throw in an extra one or two when we have th
em to offer--so don't expect an even dozen. Please feel free to copy, download, or link to these lists. We ask only that you cite the source. See the archive for lists from previous months.

| The Top 100 (More or Less) Books of 1998 You've
Just Got to Have in Your Library Collection
selected by Janice M. DelNegro |
This is a list compiled by editor Janice M. Del Negro for the October,
1998 meeting of The Illinois Library Association in Chicago, Illinois.
The following titles are perhaps not the most critically acclaimed titles
of 1998, but they are practical cho ices that will be exceedingly useful
in school and public library collections. (In other words, the picture
books may not win the Caldecott medal, but they will make great additions
to your storytime.) Although there are no annotations for this list, ea ch
title has been reviewed by The Bulletin between April and
December, 1998, so those seeking additional information about each title
should be able to locate it without much difficulty. Please note that
this list in no way substitutes for the a nnual Bulletin Blue
Ribbon list. We're still arguing over, er, discussing that one, and will
post it, along with accompanying dissents, in January, 1999. Till then,
this is a solid list of a wide variety of strong titles from 1998.
