Grown-ups think that what they want is way more important than what you want. When you're considered a kid, this is how it is. You could be totally engrossed in a movie--like, is that Laura who just came in; wait, is she still alive?--but who cares, the news is on. Let's just say if a grown-up wants to watch the news, you'll watch the news. If a grown-up wants chicken for dinner, grab your fork because you'll be eating chicken. You can't make your own food choices, watch your own TV channels, or eat your own food until the world freezes over or, I don't know, college.
